RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Hurricane Erin continues to move away from the coast after coming about 200 miles away from the coast of eastern North Carolina earlier this morning. A partly sunny sky is expected through sunset and it will be breezy with an isolated rain drop.
High pressure will prompt dry weather through Saturday across the Triangle. Moisture returns ahead of a cold front on Sunday with a thunderstorm in spots.
The cold front will drive in noticeably less humid weather Monday with near average temperatures. Canadian high pressure then settles into the Carolinas with an extended period Tuesday through the end of the week with below average temperatures and a taste of fall. It will be particularly cooler at night. The last time we have seen overnight lows in the lower 60s in Raleigh was the first week of the month. BTW, this is the 14th coolest August on record in Raleigh through August 20. We will likely climb that ladder a bit higher by the end of next week with the Canadian air mass coming into the Carolinas.
Have a great evening!
