Richmond police arrest suspect linked to 3 sexual assaults in tunnel
Richmond police investigators have linked a man to a series of three sexual assaults near the Point Richmond Tunnel that happened in June and July.

RICHMOND, Calif. (KGO) -- Richmond police have arrested a suspect in connection with three separate sexual assaults.

Investigators linked the man to a series of sexual assaults near the Point Richmond Tunnel that happened in June and July.

Police say forensic evidence, undercover decoy operations and license plate reader data were used to identify the suspect.

Criminal charges have now been filed by the District Attorney and the suspect is being held on $200,000 bail.

Police had been warning the public about the series of sexual assaults that took place inside the Point Richmont tunnel, which has a raised path for pedestrians and cyclists. The first two were in June. The third was in July.

In response, they stepped up patrols and encouraged people to travel in pairs.
