About the Role & Team
Be a part of our award-winning Food and Beverage Operations team at the Walt Disney World Resort! In this role, the Chief Steward provides leadership, support and direction for stewarding operations in a fast-paced food & beverage operation. You will lead and inspire a diverse Cast of hourly stewards in partnership with culinary leaders and Cast. You will proactively work to exceed expectations and meet the needs of all food and beverage and catering leaders at a resort hotel while fostering an environment of cleanliness and operational efficiency as a hallmark for Disney's standards for success. You will report to the Executive Chef.
What You Will Do
• Ensure dish room areas comply with sanitation and safety standards
• Ensure all equipment and tabletop wares are in good condition and that appropriate inventory levels are maintained
• Maintain and monitor equipment, props and inventory
• May be responsible for operating teams in multiple resort locations
• For large remote functions, set up make-shift workspaces to align with sanitation and operations processes
• Able to foster a positive and safe work environment and practices
• Responsible to take a sincere interest in Cast Members and make them feel included and valued
• Actively listen to the Cast, and quickly follow-up on issues
• Motivate and engage Cast Members through inspirational leadership and storytelling
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Possess passion for the food & beverage business and a focus on safety and cleanliness
• Ability to function effectively in a team environment
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to deal effectively with conflict
• Organization, multi-tasking and time management skills with attention to detail
• Problem solving and decision-making skills with a focus on continuous improvement
• Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including weekends, variable shifts, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
• Multilingual skills, particularly Creole, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese
• Previous experience as a chief steward, kitchen manager or another food & beverage or culinary leadership role
• Operational Guest service experience and Guest service skills
• Bachelor’s degree in food & beverage, hospitality or equivalent
