If you love reading Intelligencer and New York anywhere near as much as we love writing for you, here’s some good news: There’s a new Google feature that will show our latest stories in your search results, and it’s really easy to set up.
The new feature is called “Preferred Sources,” and it lets you customize what appears in the “Top Stories” section, which appears atop your Google results when you search for some current-news event. There’s also a new “From Your Sources” section Google is launching that will prominently feature your preferred publications. It will also be helpful if, for instance, you’re sick of being offered India Today articles and official White House press releases when you search for the latest weird way Trump is turning the White House into Mar-a-Lago.
If you’d like to add New York and Intelligencer to your preferred sources, here’s a quick guide.

Click this handy link
Click this link, and you’ll be sent to the page you want to be on (though if you’re not signed into your Google account, you’ll need to do that first). You should see “Source Preferences” at the top of the page.

Check the box next to New York Magazine
You should see New York Magazine (nymag.com) listed below the search box, and to the right of that, a checkbox. Go ahead and check that box.

That’s it. Told you it was easy.
3.
Add more sites if you want
If you’ve already added New York to your preferred sources, that doesn’t just make Intelligencer posts more prominent in your search results; it will do the same thing for the Strategist’s recommendations when you search for sales or product advice.
If you’d like to add our other New York sites to your preferred sources, you can do that by either searching for those sites on that same page in the last step and checking off their boxes, or by clicking these links:

There’s another way
When you search for news about something and the “Top Stories” section appears above the search results, you can click on the star icon to the right of “Top Stories”:
That will bring up a new window, where you can type in “new york magazine” or “nymag” and check the box off there.
