Pay for your Google Store purchase over time

Financing options

If you're an existing user, you may get a monthly payment option that’s available with:

  • Google Store Financing
  • Klarna
  • Verizon

You can apply for such financing and, if approved, use your new account to pay for your purchase over time.

Even if you haven’t financed a purchase before, you can apply for financing at checkout and choose "Pay with Klarna" as your payment method.

After you choose Klarna and confirm your purchase, you’re redirected to the Klarna website to apply for financing and complete the purchase.

If you’re approved for financing, you pay for your order over time. If your order is split into multiple shipments, your installment plan begins when the last shipment ships. You’ll receive notification with additional details, such as payment dates.

Your financing eligibility is based on your:

  • Cart value
  • Personal details you enter on their site, such as bank account

Understand Google Store Financing

Google Store Financing can only be used for purchases made from the Google Store in the US if your cart value is $149 USD or more. For purchases less than $149 USD, you must use a credit card or PayPal. You cannot use Google Store Financing for purchases made outside the Google Store.

For items that offer a monthly pay option, take note that 0% APR rates are only available for:

  • 12-month financing for orders greater than $149 that are paid in full in 12 months.
  • 24-month financing for orders containing any A-Series, like Pixel 7a, that are paid in full in 24 months.
  • 36-month financing for orders containing any non A-Series, like Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel Fold, that are paid in full in 36 months.

Apply for financing

To apply for Google Store Financing when you get the Monthly Payments option at checkout:

  1. Select the Monthly Payments option for Google Store.
  2. Once you’re directed to Synchrony Bank’s website, complete the application.

If you're a Verizon or AT&T customer, log into your Verizon or AT&T account and go through their process when you select your carrier.

Application processing time may vary. You might get a decision right away, or you might have to wait for a decision.

Use Google Store Financing

When your cart value is $149 USD or more, you can use Google Store Financing in the Google Store for current or future purchases within your approved credit limit. You cannot use Google Store Financing to make purchases on Google Play or other Google platforms.

You’ll receive a notification with additional details, such as payment dates, once your order ships and your payment is charged.

If you’ve already been approved to use Google Store Financing but can't find it as a payment method at checkout or don't automatically return to your Google Store cart from Synchrony Bank’s website:

How a trade-in affects your financing option

Any credit you receive when you trade in a device on your transaction will decrease the length of your monthly installments.

  • Your monthly installments will decrease based on the value of your trade-in credit, but your standard monthly installment amount will stay the same.

The Klarna Bank AB solely issues and services “Pay with Klarna” as a payment solution. Each purchase involves a fresh credit evaluation and a fixed-term loan.

  • Google doesn’t store any info on your financing, including:
    • Account info
    • Balances
    • Payments

You can pay in 4 payments with no interest every 2 weeks for selected Google Store products.

Installment options

You might find an option at checkout on the Google Store to pay in installments for your purchase. Pay in installments is a monthly, credit card-based installment solution with no additional interest or fees.

Installment options:

  • For orders with any Pixel phone: 24-month installment.
  • For orders with non-Pixel phones that exceed 20,000 JPY: 12-month installment.
  • You can’t use Splitit to pay for services, such as monthly subscriptions.
  • Splitit only works for purchases on the Google Store, not for other Google services, such as the Play Store.

What is Splitit?

Google Store works with Splitit to manage monthly installments. It's available for purchases made on the Google Store in Japan only. Instead of paying the full price right away, the cost is divided into equal amounts that you pay each month.

Know eligibility requirements

  • You need a Visa or Mastercard credit card that works in Japan and uses Japanese yen (JPY).
  • The expiration month on the card must be after the month you make the purchase.
  • Even though you’ll pay in installments, your credit card must be able to hold the full amount of your purchase. This held amount will decrease each month as you pay.
  • When you buy an item in the Google Store, you need to sign in to your Google Account.

How does the Splitit payment process work?

  • You will pay the same amount each month.
  • The payments happen over 12 months or 24 months, depending on the plan.
  • There’s no interest charged by Google or Splitit.
    • You only pay for what you bought.
  • The first payment happens when your order is shipped to you.
    • If your order has a split shipment, you're charged when the last shipment ships.
  • You'll be charged on the same date each month as your first payment.
    • If the date doesn't exist in the next month, you'll be charged on the last day of the month.
      • Example: If your first payment is on March 31, then your second payment is on April 30.

Set up installments

Important: Your credit card will have a hold for the total amount of your purchase. This held amount will decrease each month as you make payments. To learn more, refer to the Splitit FAQ.

  1. Before you go to the checkout page, select Monthly Payments.
  2. To proceed to the checkout, select Continue.
    • No application form or credit check is required.
  3. Find the option "Pay in Installments."
  4. To choose Visa or Mastercard, click Select.
  5. Complete your Google Store purchase.
  6. After you pay, you’ll receive an email from Splitit with the details about your payments.

Change your credit card

  1. Go to pay.google.com.
  2. Select Subscriptions and services.
  3. Find your Google Store purchase.
  4. Select Manage ​​and then Change credit card.

User was charged the whole amount

When you choose Splitit, it might seem like you’re charged with the full amount at first.

  • Upon purchase, you’ll find 2 entries:
    • First monthly installment (an actual charge)
    • A pre-authorization (a temporary hold, not a charge)
  • Monthly installment:
    • The first installment will be charged upon shipment.
    • Subsequent installments will be billed on the same date each month, with no changes allowed to the date or amount.
  • Pre-authorization details:
    • The pre-authorization is re-approved every 18–21 days and the amount decreases as installments are paid.
    • You can find the reauthorization schedule in your email from Splitit or on Splitit's Shopper Portal.
    • Depending on the financial institution, the reauthorization is voided between 1–14 days.
    • For orders placed on or after March 24, 2025, the plan will be reauthorized every 6 months for the current outstanding value of the plan. This amount will be held on the card for approximately 30 days and then it’ll be removed.
  • To find out if the charge is labeled as “unconfirmed,” contact your bank. This means it's just a temporary hold.

Important:

  • If Splitit can't pre-authorize the remaining balance or process your monthly installment:
    • They'll send you a reminder email and give you 7 days to update your payment details.
    • After this, Splitit may charge the remaining balance.
  • To check billing details and get more info on your installment plan, go to Splitit's Shopper Portal or contact Splitit.

User wants a price match

If the Google Store offers a price match after you bought an item with Splitit:

  1. The Google Store will give you a partial refund.
  2. Splitit will adjust your payment plan.
    • Example: If you pay 5,000 JPY a month for 12 months and you get a 7,500 JPY refund, your monthly installment will decrease.

What is Equated Monthly Installment (EMI)?

Equated Monthly Installment (EMI) is a widely used and convenient form of payment in India. Through EMI, you can make purchases and repay the amount in fixed monthly installments.

Types of EMI

  • No Cost EMI (NCEMI): You can pay for a product in installments with the original product price. You’re provided a discount equivalent to the interest to only pay the actual product price.
  • Low Cost EMI (LCEMI): This is a fixed monthly payment where the merchant pays part of the interest as discounts and you pay the remaining interest.

Eligibility requirements

  • Credit card from a bank that works with Google Store and supports EMI
  • Minimum cart value of ₹10,000
  • NCEMI offers:
    • Pixel phones up to 24 months
    • Watches and Buds up to 12 months
  • LCEMI offers:
    • Pixel phones, Pixel Watches, and Pixel Buds for 18, 24, 36 months
    • Majority of Pixel phones bought get LCEMI offer

Understand the EMI option

  • To convert your purchase to EMI, you’ll need a Visa, MasterCard, or RuPay credit card. Debit cards are not accepted.
  • The EMI calculator is displayed at checkout to help you decide which card to use to receive maximum savings.
  • You’re required to enter your credit card details.
  • You’ll be asked to select from one of the EMI plans available from the selected credit card used.
  • When you buy using EMI, your bank may initially show the full purchase amount charged to your credit card. This is just a temporary hold. Problems with payment

When you try to pay through EMI, you might see an error message. Here’s why this could happen:

  • Your card doesn’t support EMI: Not all credit cards can be used for EMI payments. You need to check with your bank.
  • Problem with the bank: There can be issues with the bank that provides the EMI. It can be temporary and you can try again later.
  • Payment declined: The bank won’t authorize the transaction for different reasons if you use a credit card for EMI. You need to check with your bank.
  • Technical issue: There can be issues with the website or app that you use to make the payment. You can try again after some time or contact support.
