Control your lock with the Google Home app

You can use both the Home app and the Nest app to control the Nest x Yale Lock. The Google Home app also lets you control Works with Google locks.

Lock or Unlock

  1. Open the Google Home app Home.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. To lock or unlock your device, tap the device tile.

The app will show whether the lock is currently locked or unlocked. To see details like the lock's name, location, and when it was last locked, tap on the lock Lock icon.

Auto-lock and One Touch locking features can be found in the Device options below.

Device options

To change settings on your lock with the Google Home app:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices .
  3. Tap the device tile to select your device.
  4. To access the lock’s details, tap Settings Settings icon.

You can change your device’s name, assign it to a different room, and control the following settings.

Lock tone volume
To change the lock’s tone volume, select the volume setting you prefer: low, high, or off.
Auto-Lock timer
By default, the Nest × Yale Lock will not automatically lock itself, but you can enable automatic locking. You can choose how long your lock should wait before automatically locking. Tap your choice of timer under “Auto-Lock timer.”
One touch locking
One touch locking lets you lock the door from the outside with just one touch. If this option is enabled, you can lock by touching the lock keypad instead of entering a passcode. 
One-tap unlock
Important: You need to create a passcode to enable One-tap unlock. For Matter lock instructions, refer to Passcode creation.
When enabled, One-tap unlock conveniently stores your passcode on your mobile device so that you don't need to enter it every time.

Reset One-tap unlock

You can reset the One-tap unlock passcode once you turn it off. This clears any previously saved passcodes for One-tap unlock and will require you to add a new one if it’s reactivated.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home Application Icon.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices and then your lock and then Settings .
  3. Turn off One-tap unlock, then turn it on again.
Passcode creation

Important: Passcode management is specific to compatible Matter locks.

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home Application Icon.
  2. Tap Settings and then Household & access and then your profile.
    • Alternatively, you can tap Devices and then your lock and then Access.
    • You can also tap Add to create a guest passcode. Guest passcodes can provide scheduled access for compatible locks.
  3. Tap the device you want to create a passcode for.
  4. Set a 4 to 8 digit passcode.
  5. Turn on Enable one-tap unlock by saving on this passcode.
  6. Tap Save and then Share or Copy and then Done. A confirmation that a passcode has been created will be sent to your inbox.
