NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- The 2025 National Dominican Day Parade brought a festive air to Midtown Manhattan Sunday for the 43rd anniversary celebration of culture, pride, and community.
The celebration traveled along Sixth Avenue between West 37th and West 55th streets in Midtown as thousands lined up to celebrate their Dominican heritage.
WABC-TV streamed the parade on abc7ny.com and our social platforms including YouTube, Facebook and TikTok. You can re-watch the parade here:
The event celebrated honorees and highlighted the significance of the parade to the Dominican community. The Kid Mero served as the ambassador of arts and culture for the parade. You can re-watch a conference highlighting the honorees below:
The theme of this year's parade was "Quisqueya & USA: United in Culture and Tradition." The annual event celebrates Dominican culture, folklore and traditions with parade floats, musical guests and dignitaries.
With the New York City mayoral election looming, the parade doubled as a stage for candidates like Mayor Eric Adams, Zohran Mamdani, and Andrew Cuomo. Gov. Kathy Hochul also marched in the parade.
On Friday, a gala was held in New Rochelle ahead of the parade, which you can learn more about in the video below.
In May, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson hosted the Bronx Dominican Heritage Celebration, where some of the 2025 parade honorees were unveiled, including Mimi Henriquez, Ramón Mercedes, Domingo Cruz, Fidel Malena, and Giamara M. Rosado. Honorees were recognized for their contributions to the Bronx and Dominican communities.
Goya Foods made a huge donation to those in need ahead of the parade - more than 20,000 pounds of non-perishable products.
The donations will help families served by Catholic Charities Community Services - Alianza Division.
The parade is also a time to fundraise and help young students achieve their academic goals through its scholarship program.
Since starting the program in 2015, the National Dominican Day Parade has committed over $1 million in funding to over 200 students across 20 states, according to event officials. By offering scholarships, parade organizers and board members aim to help students of Dominican descent attain a college degree.
