When you install an app, you're notified of the permissions required to run that application.

Permission | What it Does |

Allows an application to send or receive messages on your behalf. |
Network Communications |
Grants access to the network services on your device. |

Grants access to private data, such as your contacts, calendar events, or email messages. |
Phone Calls |
Grants access to the telephony state of your device. This permission allows an application to do things like intercept outgoing calls. |
