The season finale airs Wednesday on FXX
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is wrapping up a wild season 17 with a "Golden Bachelor" crossover, which sees Danny DeVito's character Frank Reynolds heading to the Bachelor mansion looking for love.
And yes, it's just as unhinged as you might imagine.
For DeVito, tapping into the 'Bachelor' lore was a new experience!
"I had never seen it until they pitched it and I watched it and thought that would be really cool for Frank," DeVito told On The Red Carpet. "I can't say enough about how they were good to us."
Host Jesse Palmer plays himself and is witness the insanity that is Frank Reynolds.
"We do let it fly, you know," DeVito said. "I think once the guest star or whoever's with us knows that, there's no stiffness. He was great, man."
Wild ideas and having fun on the set has been always been the cornerstone for the "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" gang, which includes Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob Mac and Kaitlin Olson. The show is the longest-running live-action sitcom in American TV history and it's going to continue with a season 18, news that made DeVito reflect on why it's such a joy for him.
"That's what it's all about, making people happy. And I think, you know, we're gonna go again. We're gonna start in January. And I was happy to hear that because like I said, it's 12 weeks of being with your buds," DeVito said.
"It's family."
The season 17 finale of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" airs Wednesday on FXX and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
