'Eenie Meanie': Samara Weaving, Karl Glusman star in high-speed genre-bending feature
"It was one of the best scripts I've ever read," Weaving explained.
LOS ANGELES -- 20th Century Studios' "Eenie Meanie" is racing onto screens soon.
Samara Weaving stars as Edie, a woman who tries to break away from her questionable past as a top getaway driver, but gets roped back in when she tries to help her ex-boyfriend John, played by Karl Glusman, get out of trouble.
Andy Garcia, Mike O'Malley, Marshawn Lynch, Jermaine Fowler, Randall Park, Steve Zahn and more make up the ensemble cast.
The action-thriller blends all kinds of genres - action, comedy and drama - and marks screenwriter Shawn Simmons' directorial debut.
"Shawn's writing is so funny and witty and heartbreaking," Weaving told On The Red Carpet. "I think it's tricky to pull off all those different genres in one movie"
Glusman added, "It was all there, you know?"
"It was one of the best scripts I've ever read," Weaving continued.
Simmons said it was his goal to have a movie that celebrated a bit of every type of film, "especially heart and heartbreak and humor."
"It's a big thing to me that the comedy makes you not expect the drama that's coming for you at the end," he explained.
There are plenty of big scenes involving Weaving's character, the excellent driver, but she only learned how to drive for the role!
Glusman recalls getting into a car with Weaving at the wheel. "I had no idea, much to my dismay. They put me in the car. I looked at Sam. I said, 'You got this?' She said, 'I have no idea what I'm doing.'"
