The animated adventure stars Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña and Brad Garrett
Greetings, Earthlings! Disney and Pixar's animated film "Elio" beams up just in time to watch with the whole family.
As "Elio" star Zoe Saldaña (Olga Solís) explained, the movie follows, "The story of this little boy that is trying to come to grips with the loss of his parents, and is trying to find his place in the world."
Brad Garrett, who voices Lord Grigon, shared, "What's great is the characters are so multi-layered. You know, in this one, "Elio," there's a lot of heart. He learns to deal with grief, which is a touchy subject, obviously, for children. But the way they approach that in this film, it just gives it those textures of emotion that we don't see often."
Not only does the film tackle heartfelt emotions, it also takes viewers out of this world. Yonas Kibreab, who portrays the titular character Elio, was impressed by the filmmakers' animation skills. "The way the Pixar animators just thought about this world and created the ships, the aliens (is) the craziest thing to me," he revealed. "It's super inspiring. It makes me want to get better at drawing."
Watch the interview above to see which three words Kibreab would use to describe "Elio." Plus, go behind-the-scenes at Pixar to see how "Elio" came to life.
Fans can immerse themselves in the Communiverse and the intergalactic story of "Elio" now on digital platforms, and 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD Sept. 9.
