NORTH PLAINFIELD, New Jersey (WABC) -- Some communities are still picking up the pieces from Monday's storm days later on Wednesday.

Crews have been out repairing roads and there has been significant progress on Route 22 on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday in the storm's aftermath.

Both westbound and eastbound lanes have since reopened.

Crews were cleaning up mud, repairing the road and damaged dividers and repaving the roadway. They also painted new stripes in the eastbound lanes.

All of these repairs are happening after Monday night's storm that flooded streets and damaged homes, roads and cars.

Two women in their 60s were killed in the storm when their car was swept into Cedar Brook in Plainfield.

They were travelling along Stelle Avenue when they made a turn, ended up in a ditch, and were pulled into the fast-moving water.

In North Plainfield, many people are still cleaning up the mess left behind.

One woman shared video of her street flooding Monday night and said she hasn't experienced anything like since Hurricane Ida.

Her living room started to fill with water during the storm and she said her car is totaled.

This is the second time in nearly two weeks that this area has experienced flooding and damage.

More rain is on the way Wednesday night, and the ground is already saturated so it won't take much to flood.
