TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan (WABC) -- A Bronx man is now facing charges for allegedly leaving a suspicious package outside the NYPD Times Square substation and walking away.

The ensuing investigation prompted police to close Seventh Avenue between 42nd and 44th Streets on Monday morning.

The bomb squad determined the object was not a threat and streets were reopened, and detectives said there was no obvious message or threat implied by the object.

Desean Maryat, a 26-year-old Bronx man, was picked up by detectives and taken to a hospital for a psych evaluation before being charged.

The charges against Maryat include reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats.
