Police investigate hit-and-run death near JFK Airport

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, Queens (WABC) -- Police are investigating the death of a 52-year-old man who was struck and killed crossing the street early Wednesday morning near John F. Kennedy International Airport.

At 2:27 a.m., officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by an unidentified vehicle at 155 Street and South Conduit Avenue in the Springfield Gardens section of Queens.

South Conduit Avenue is a busy parkway service road through the area. The man was hit at a location where there is no crosswalk.

The man was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The operator of the vehicle fled the scene after hitting the man.

There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
