Former engineer is retired but not slowing down. He's an intern at 66.
After retiring, Tim Armstrong pursued his passion and took an internship with Texas Golf Association. The other interns... were all college students.

HOUSTON, Texas -- In his retirement, 66-year-old Tim Armstrong is living out a dream.

The former General Motors engineer fell in love with golf watching Tiger Woods back in the day. Tim said, "I knew I could never be as good as Tiger, but this is pretty close."

Armstrong worked at GM for 40 years. He relocated to Houston to be near his children and grandchildren. He had some time to fill, so he applied and got an offer to be an intern for the Texas Golf Association. He had just turned 66.

"I got my offer back in February, but they wouldn't let me start until the first week of March. I wanted to start as soon as possible because I knew this was going to be an amazing opportunity and I was ready to learn the other side of the golf industry." Tim said.

The other interns were all college students, but Tim fit in nicely. "At 66, I identified with the other interns. I've always been a mentor, and I wanted to give back to the younger generation."

Tim finished his internship with the Texas Golf Association and is now working his first professional golf job at Jersey Meadows Golf Club in the Houston area. Tim said proudly, "Golf is a lifelong journey and I'm loving every minute of it."
